About Us

In 2005, Adrian Kennedy and his family made the move from Ireland to Australia. With over 10 years of experience as a carpenter, Adrian settled into a career as a Structural Carpenter. Over the last 8 years of his career, he transitioned from a carpentry role to a supervisor position. Adrian's personal growth during this time led him to change direction and leave the industry.

During this period, Adrian and his wife Katy joined CrossFit Boss, now known as Chaalk Box, and his love and passion for CrossFit ignited.

However, an unexpected turn of events occurred when the COVID-19 pandemic hit Australia. Adrian took proactive measures by utilizing his carpentry skills to create plyo boxes for his fellow gym members and members of the local community, to continue their training at home during lockdown.

While researching the design of the plyo box, Adrian discovered a flaw in the imported design - they were losing their structural integrity after about two years of heavy use. Determined to overcome this issue, Adrian developed a design that over-engineered the humble plyo box, ensuring it could withstand 10+ years of heavy use without compromising its structural integrity.

This marked the birth of Hippy Chippy Australia.

As word spread, athletes approached Adrian, asking if he could develop his own range of hard-to-source items used in the sport of CrossFit. Royce Dunne played a significant role in the development of the CrossFit Games Edition Handstand ramps and peg boards, thoroughly testing them before they were added to the product list for the community to purchase.

CrossFit in Townsville, specifically Dialogue CrossFit, became a customer of Hippy Chippy Australia, purchasing a number of products with personalised branding before requesting Adrian to design slant boards for use in their gym. Adrian's range of slant boards is designed to withstand years of heavy use in home or commercial gym environments, and they have become one of his most popular products.

Adrian's focus on developing durable, long-lasting, and robust products serves as the foundation for all his designs.

Expanding into larger designs, Adrian joined forces with another Australian company, DK Kreationz. Together with engineer and metal fabricator Damien Kennedy (who happens to be Adrian's brother), they designed some of the strongest and visually exquisite weightlifting platforms in the Australian market.

One of Hippy Chippy Australia's recent achievements was working with the Down Under Championship to design a padded handstand ramp in time for their competition in Wollongong in 2022.

Adrian has supplied Brisbane's premier functional fitness gym, CrossFit Torian, with a large supply of Hippy Chippy products, including plyo boxes and weightlifting platforms.
